Jr. Web Designer

As Jr. Web Designer, you’ll be asked to:

  • plan, design, and build websites, landing pages, emails and banner ads for client and internal executions
  • produce and create content and banners for web, offline collateral, external media, email campaigns and corporate identity material
  • ensure all online communications leverage and consistently implement industry and digital best practices
  • collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • promote professional growth and help ensure the web team continues to be a high-performing unit
  • collaborate with the digital marketing team in researching, proposing and developing strategically relevant concepts for online campaigns
  • maintain positive and collaborative internal and external relationships

What you bring:

  • post-secondary education in Web Design or similar field
  • 2+ years of experience
  • a strong portfolio with an emphasis on digital media, mobile, responsive web and UI/UX design best practices
  • familiarity with front end web technologies including HTML / PHP / CSS / JS
  • familiarity with back end CMS platforms including WordPress and Shopify
  • confidence, clarity, and the power of persuasion
  • flexibility and a positive spirit
  • you aren’t afraid to think big or try something new
  • great communication skills – you listen first, then share knowledge
  • excellent attention to detail – some might call you nitpicky – because you know small things matter
  • you can handle projects, lots of projects, at the same time, while keeping your cool
  • self-motivation – you get the job done well, without wasting time, and without being asked

Bonus points if you…

  • Have experience working with print design files
  • Have experience designing and deploying email campaigns using MailChimp
  • Have experience in video editing or animation
  • Can name at least 7 great restaurants in Hamilton
